The problem

A restaurant in Porsgrunn had no website at all — no menu online, nothing to find in a local search. Everything had to be built from nothing, and I had never been paid for this kind of work before.

The approach

WordPress with Elementor for the build, Code Snippets where the theme could not do what the design needed. I did every part myself: the brand, the layout, the copy structure, the responsive behaviour and the local SEO. The constraint that shaped it was that the client had to be able to update their own menu without calling me.

The result

Delivered, launched, and in production ever since. It is the restaurant's only web presence, and it is what comes up when someone in Porsgrunn searches for them.

What went wrong

I built it so that only I could change the menu. Within a month the restaurant needed a dish swapped on a Friday afternoon, and it had to go through me. Rebuilding the menu as something they could edit themselves was the first real lesson: a site the client cannot maintain is a site that quietly dies.
